KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 4 — Beginning in October, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will implement its IPT Recovery Plan (PEMULIH IPT), which will allow college students from upper studying institutions (IPTs) to return to campuses for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad stated that the decision to reopen all IPTs under all phases of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) is in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s announcement on August 22 that students will be allowed to return to their campuses once they have been fully vaccinated.
She added that the subject was decided upon during the National Security Council meeting on Thursday.
Noraini said she met with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday to propose that IPT students and employees be given priority in receiving their Covid-19 vaccinations in their respective areas.
“We have the similar goal, which is to establish a secure campus neighbourhood by October,” she said on her Facebook page late last night.
Noraini added that the ministry estimated that 1.296 million vaccine doses would be required to vaccinate 648,000 college students, and that the vaccination centres (PPVs) at IPTs should be converted into particularly designated PPVs for IPT college students and employees.
