The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) monitoring squads captured twenty-three pupils using improper techniques to solve their examinations on Thursday.
The students were taking their Annual Examinations for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2021.
When the mathematics question paper was reportedly leaked on social media on the first day of the SSC Part-I exams and then widely distributed on WhatsApp groups, controversy arose.
Science group pupils, according to available information, were taking their maths paper during the morning shift. However, the question paper was leaked on social media shortly after the exam began. Officials from the board, on the other hand, reject all of the allegations.
In the second shift, regular and private students in the general group tackled civics, physiology and hygiene, history, food and nutrition, and computer studies papers. However, there were no instances of questions being leaked.
According to a press statement issued by the board, all of the papers started and concluded on schedule. Prof Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, Chairman of the BSEK, visited several test centres and found everything to be in order. He emphasised the need to eradicate the exam cheating culture.
He also examined the exam centres’ CCTV camera monitoring room and praised the measures made there. He told the superintendents, students, and staff to follow the COVID-19 standard operating procedures, particularly the mask requirement.
The BSEK stated that during their surprise visits to several test centres, vigilance teams discovered 23 students who were cheating on their exams. Officials from the Board have brought charges against them. Their results will be kept confidential until the BSEK makes a decision in their cases.
